FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM – EXPRESS ENTRY

The federal government aims for those applicants who have a high skill level which can be classified according to Canadian standards.

Express Entry Program is one of the fastest programs of Immigration. It’s an online application program that runs on a point-based system. The candidates are provided Invitations to Apply through the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The highest scoring profiles are selected from Express Entry Pool with respect to the CRS cut-off.

To be eligible for Express Entry application, the candidate must have:

A score of 67 from a 100 point-grid system which is based on core factors i.e. the Six Selection Factors that are Age, Education, Work Experience, Language ability, Blood relative, Spouse Language ability, and Adaptability.

Once eligible in the 100 point-grid, the candidate becomes eligible to lodge an Expression of Interest in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) pool which is 1200 point pool.

A valid Education Credential Assessment from an authorized assessing body of Canada.

A valid Language test with a minimum score of CLB level 7.

A minimum of 1 year of work experience in the last 10 years.

Sufficient proof of funds

Medical and Police clearance

Arranged Employment (Optional)

Provincial Nomination (Optional)

Application Process:

If the candidate meets all desired requirements, the Federal government‘s Electronic platform allows an individual to create their online application which would be valid for 12 months.

The online application portal is also called CRS (Comprehensive ranking system). It is a 1200 points based process, which is divided into 2 parts as below:

Up to 600 CRS Score: Individuals can claim points by Human capital like Age, credential assessment, Professional exposure, Spouse or common-law partner, Language test, and Academics.

Additional 600 CRS points: an individual can claim from province or state nomination, Canadian Degree or diploma, valid LMIA Job Offer, French Language ability.The Canadian government has designed a point-based system that gives a ranking score to each candidate who has a valid profile in the federal pool system (Express Entry Pool System). Approximately every 2 weeks, a draw is conducted wherein ITAs (Invitation to apply) for permanent residency are issued to the highest Scoring Candidates.Once ITA is received, the applicant has to submit an online application in 60 days on Federal Portal. The government will further analyse the application and decide if an individual can become a permanent resident. During this process, an individual would be required to produce positive medical test reports along with a clear criminal record check.

Irrespective of the applicant’s eligibility with respect to the requirement, IRCC does not provide assurance of issuing an invitation to Apply.

FEDERAL SKILLED TRADE PROGRAM – EXPRESS ENTRY

The federal skilled trade program is the fastest way to migrate to Canada under semi-skilled occupation. If an individual has experience in agriculture, cooking, baking, plumbing, electrical, construction, driving, then the IRCC welcomes the candidate to work as a skilled trade worker.

There is a strong need for federal skilled trade workers all across Canada with numerous occupations. Canada Federal Government has created the Federal skilled trade program (FSTP) to help Canada by fulfilling thousands of high demand jobs. The federal skilled trade program is one of the parts of federal permanent residence and is managed by Express Entry Stream. These occupations are listed by the Canadian Federal Government on their official website.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to lodge an Expression of Interest under the Federal Skilled Traded Programme, the candidate must have:

Two years of work experience in the skilled trade category within 5 years from the date of application.

The relevant National Occupation Classification code (NOC) in the declared list by the federal government.

Arranged employment at least for 1 year or certificate of qualification issued by the Provincial Government in that Federal skilled trade.

Academic requirement is not mandatory. However, if an individual wants to earn points for an academic credential, then either their Education should be from Canadian Institute or Education credential assessment from a Canadian recognized agency is required.

Language proficiency level measured by the Canadian language benchmark must be Minimum CLB5 or CLB6

Evidence of sufficient funds.

Standard Application Process for Federal Skilled Trade Program:

STEP 1: The candidate must determine their eligibility and collect their mandatory documents like Passport, Education assessment report, Language proficiency report, Nomination from province or territory (If applicable), a Job offer from the Employer.

STEP 2: Submit an online expression of interest. Once all requirements are fulfilled, an individual must submit an online Expression of Interest into the Express Entry draw pool system which is valid for 12 months. Express Entry draws happen twice in a month since the process begins. The profile will be ranked with the CRS score against other candidates in the pool, which is based on an individual’s background and by their human capital information. An individual with the highest CRS score receives an Invitation to Apply under the Federal Skilled trade express entry draw.

STEP 3: On acceptance of the candidate’s invitation to apply for permanent residency through FSTP, the candidate will be notified about the invitation to apply through the Express entry account. The next step is to submit the supporting documents and accept the ITA within 60 days.

The Canadian Experience Class is an immigration sub-category of the Express Entry stream managed by IRCC. This sub-category allows foreign workers, who have worked in Canada for at least one year, to immigrate permanently.

Eligibility Requirement (Canadian Experience Class):

To be eligible to apply for Express Entry through CEC, the applicant must:

Have a minimum of 1 year of experience within 3 years before the application. Applicants must have experience in one or more occupations which are classified as skilled level types 0, A, and B under the national occupation classification (NOC). Also, the duties’ description of your occupation must be found in NOC including all essential roles and responsibilities.

Meet the requirement of language ability. The minimum Level for NOC skilled level category 0 and A is CLB 7 and CLB 5 is for NOC skilled level B category.

Have legal status while studying and working in Canada.

Have a Valid Education assessment for the credential, if any, from out of Canada.

Meet 67 points requirement for basic assessment based on basic human capital.

Application Process:

Once all the eligibility requirements are met, the candidate must follow the below-mentioned steps in order to move ahead for application :

Submit an online expression of interest in the Federal express entry draw pool system which is valid for 12 months. Express entry draws happen twice in a month and invites individuals with the highest Comprehensive score.

Once an Invitation to apply is received, an individual must submit all supporting documents and accept the Invitation within 60 days to the federal government on their official website.

The application would be further analysed to confirm if an individual can become a permanent resident. During this process, an individual would be required to produce positive medical test reports along with a clear criminal record check.

Lastly, the candidate would receive a Passport request asking to submit the original passport to VFS Global for a permanent residency stamp.

Facts to know:

Permanent Residency Visa is valid for 5 years. An individual must spend 730 days (at one go is not necessary) in Canada to re-issue their Permanent residency visa.

The relevant National Occupation Classification code (NOC) in the declared list by the federal government.

If an individual lives for 1095 days in Canada, they can apply directly for citizenship of Canada.

Permanent residency holders can travel outside of Canada frequently when they are on the status of PR.
